Taken over twenty years ago the following pictures were taken from the exhibition ‘Barry Gone Home’. They were first shown at the National Museum of Fine Art in Malta, and later came to the UK to be shown at the Design Exchange, Bradford. They still provoke some of my fondest memories and are a constant reminder of a bygone era. Barry Nelson had been diagnosed terminally ill with cancer and the following pictures trace the people and places that had meant so much to him throughout his adult life. He had visited Malta for over twenty years and had been made life president of the M’Sida Red Stars football team, his popularity was such that on his death, a mass was held at theM’Sida Cathedral and was so full that people stood in the street to pay their last respects.
